The Association of Agricultural Research Institutions in the Near East and North Africa (AARINENA), in cooperation with the Jordan Society for Scientific Research, Entrepreneurship, and Creativity (JSSREC) successfully held a workshop titled “Scientific Research: Realities and Challenges” on Sunday, June 1, 2025, in Amman.
The workshop brought together leading academics and professionals to discuss the current state of scientific research in the region and the key obstacles faced by research institutions today.
Among the distinguished speakers were:
- Prof. Hussein Al-Khuzai, a noted expert in development sociology;
- Dr. Nancy Hakooz, former Vice President of Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan;
- Dr. Khaled Khreisat, Director General of JAIP, who highlighted the importance of stronger academic-industry partnerships.
The event was held under the patronage of Dr. Rida Shibli, Executive Secretary of AARINENA. In his opening remarks, Dr. Shibli emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to advance scientific research and innovation across the region.
The workshop offered a valuable platform for dialogue, knowledge sharing, and identifying strategic directions to strengthen research systems and address regional development priorities.
The event was attended by invited guests from academia, research institutions, and the private sector, reflecting a strong interest in fostering scientific advancement in the Near East and North Africa.
