AARINENA participated in the 2026 Scientific Conference “Stability in the Arab World 2026–2035: Trends and Influencing Factors,” held in Amman, Jordan, on 7–8 September 2026 and organized by the Middle East Studies Center – Jordan.
The conference brought together former ministers and senior officials, diplomats, academics, researchers, and experts from across the Arab region to examine the political, economic, social, security, and geopolitical dimensions of stability. Discussions sought to assess current conditions, identify major challenges and opportunities, and contribute to developing an Arab vision for sustainable and comprehensive stability during the coming decade.
Representing AARINENA, Dr. Rida A. Shibli, Executive Secretary, participated in the conference and chaired the second scientific session, “Existing Threats and Challenges to Stability in the Arab World 2015–2025.” The session brought together researchers from Jordan, Iraq, and Sudan to examine key factors and challenges that have affected stability in the region over the past decade.
Over the two days, the conference explored current and anticipated threats, opportunities and dynamics influencing Arab stability, as well as approaches for strengthening regional cooperation and preparedness. Its recommendations also addressed issues directly relevant to sustainable development, including food and water security, management of natural resources, technological transformation, and stronger regional integration.
AARINENA’s participation reflects its engagement in regional dialogue on the broader conditions that influence sustainable development, resilience, food and water security, and the future of agrifood systems. By contributing to multidisciplinary discussions beyond the agricultural sector, AARINENA supports stronger connections between agricultural research and the wider economic, social, environmental, and policy challenges shaping the NENA region.
