AARINENA was represented by Dr. Rida Shibli, Executive Secretary, at the “Sustainable Agriculture Toward Integrated Food Security” conference held in Amman, Jordan.

The conference focused on promoting climate-smart agricultural practices to enhance food security in the region. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Ibrahim Al-Rawashdeh, Director General of the Jordanian National Agricultural Research Center (NARC), and attended by key stakeholders, including Dr. Aly Abousabaa, Director General of the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA). Dr. Abousabaa’s presence underscored the importance of international collaboration in addressing agricultural challenges in the region.

A highlight of the conference was the presentation of a distinguished project titled “20 Donums for Change Toward Climate-Smart Agriculture”, implemented by the Swiss organization in collaboration with NARC, Jordan River Foundation, the Norwegian Refugee Council, and Venture X, with support from the French Development Agency. The project achieved significant results in empowering smallholder farmers, particularly in tomato, cucumber, thyme, and olive cultivation, targeting the Mafraq and Irbid governorates.

AREENINA’s participation reflects the association’s full commitment and readiness to dedicate its efforts toward fostering regional cooperation and advancing sustainable agricultural practices to achieve integrated food security in the region.
