AARINENA and the Cooperative Association for Moringa and Desert Plants Explore Avenues for Regional Collaboration

May 22, 2025

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen regional cooperation in sustainable agriculture and environmental resilience, Dr. Rida Shibli, Executive Secretary of AARINENA, held a productive meeting with H.E. Dr. Nasser Al-Khalifa, Chairman of the Cooperative Association for Moringa and Desert Plants in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

During the meeting, both parties discussed potential areas of collaboration between the two institutions, particularly in the fields of scientific research, knowledge exchange, training, and public awareness on the importance of Moringa (locally known as “Al-Yusr”) and other desert-adapted plants.

They also explored the possibility of organizing a series of joint webinars to facilitate the exchange of expertise among specialists and stakeholders across the Arab region.

The discussion emphasized the mutual interest in expanding the partnership to include sustainable agricultural projects, support for local communities in arid regions, and contributions toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Cooperative Association for Moringa and Desert Plants, established in 1437H (2016), is dedicated to promoting the cultivation and propagation of Moringa and other low-water-use desert plants, while also raising awareness of their economic and environmental benefits.

This engagement aligns with AARINENA’s mission to foster regional and international partnerships that strengthen agricultural research and development across the Near East and North Africa region.
