AARINENA Signs MoU with the Higher School of Saharan Agriculture – El Oued

On September 23, 2024, a significant step towards strengthening agricultural research and collaboration was taken with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Association of Agricultural Research Institutions in the Near East and North Africa (AARINENA) and the Higher School of Saharan Agriculture – El Oued in Algeria. The MoU was signed virtually via Zoom, symbolizing the commitment to advancing agricultural development in the region.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Rida Shibli, Executive Secretary of AARINENA, and Prof. El Habib GUEDDA, Director of the Higher School of Saharan Agriculture. This partnership marks a new chapter in fostering cooperation in agricultural education, research, and innovation, particularly in the arid and semi-arid regions of the Near East and North Africa.

Through this agreement, both parties aim to:

Promote joint research projects focused on sustainable agricultural practices, with an emphasis on the unique challenges of Saharan agriculture.
Facilitate the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and technologies between researchers, students, and specialists from both institutions.
Develop training programs, workshops, and conferences that will benefit students and professionals in the agricultural sector.
Dr. Rida Shibli expressed his optimism about the collaboration, stating, “This MoU is a significant step towards enhancing research and innovation in agriculture, particularly in areas with challenging climates like the Sahara. We are excited about the opportunities this partnership will create for both institutions and the region as a whole.”
