The President of the Hashemite University, Prof. Dr. Fawaz Abd Al-Haq Al-Zaboon, the General Director of the Islamic World Academy of Sciences, Prof. Dr. Abdullah Al-Musa, and the Executive Secretary of the Association of Agricultural Research Institutions in West Asia and North Africa (AARINENA) Dr. Rida Shibli, in the presence of the Vice President for Scientific Colleges, Prof. Dr. Khaled Al-Hiyari and Dr. Abdul Basit Al-Zeyoud, Vice President for Humanitarian Faculties Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Eid Al-Tarzi, Dean of Prince El-Hassan Bin Talal College for Natural Resources and the Environment, discussed ways to strengthen cooperation relations between these institutions in the fields of networking, exchange of experiences, holding seminars, conferences and scientific and research bilateral cooperation in the fields of science, technology and research Agricultural, aquatic, food and environmental.
During his meeting, Dr. Al-Zaboon emphasized that the Hashemite University seeks to maximize benefits by networking with scientific and research institutions in holding conferences, activities, visits and exchange of experiences in addition to providing scientific consultations between the two sides, especially in conducting scientific research. He also stressed the importance of conducting scientific agricultural research that deals with the development of dry lands. He said that we need research projects to be applied on the ground, converting data into concrete decisions, and benefiting from expertise and competencies to transform dry lands into productive lands.
Dr. Al-Mousa said that the Islamic World Academy of Sciences (IAS) aims to provide scientific and research advice. It is a scientific advisory body for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, as it brings together thinkers and scholars striving to spread concepts of modern science and honor scientific achievements. It also publishes scientific achievements through conferences and publications and is a specialized forum for researching contemporary science and technology issues.
Dr. Shibli said that (AARINENA) cooperates (11) scientific and research networks of the most active networks specialized in the fields of (Agricultural Biotechnology, Agricultural Genetic Resources, Medicinal and Herbal Plants, Water Use Efficiency, Olive, Date Palm, Agricultural Extension (Agribusiness and Honeybees Sub-networks), Cactus Pear and Animal Production).
The Dean of the College of Natural Resources and the Environment, Dr. Al-Tarzi, welcomed this scientific and research cooperation with these institutions by involving faculty members with these institutions and establishing joint activities, stressing the importance of networking with regional and international institutions, which gives the college a global dimension.
