Stakeholder Meeting: Enhancing Resilience of Smallholder Farmers and Pastoralists in Northern Jordan

Dr. Rida Shibli, the Executive Secretary of AARINENA, participated in a stakeholder meeting organized by the International Center for Agriculture Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and the World Food Program on the 16th and 17th of October 2023.

The primary objective of this Stakeholder Meeting is to foster meaningful engagement among key stakeholders to develop potential strategies to enhance Resilience among Smallholder Farmers and Pastoralists in Northern Jordan.

The key outcomes of the meeting were as follows:

  1. Comprehensive Assessment Report: This report provides a comprehensive summary of climate change exposure, sensitivity, impact, and vulnerability within the targeted region. It identifies both climate and non-climate factors that significantly affect the resilience of social, ecological, and agricultural systems. Additionally, the report breaks down the impacts of climate change by subsector, production system, region, and vulnerable groups.
  2. Strategic Roadmap for Climate Adaptation: The workshop has released a strategic roadmap that outlines the climate risks for the key components of production systems in the areas covered by the feasibility study. Additionally, it identifies and prioritizes social and technological innovation packages for climate adaptation.
