Establishing & operationalizing research, technology, and innovation platform for the date palm crop in the region, August 10, 2021

 Inception Workshop, August 10, 2021

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and The Association of Agricultural Research Institutions in the Near East and North Africa (AARINENA) organized the Inception Workshop on August 10, 2021. The objective of the workshop was to announce the research, technology, and innovation platform for the date palm crop in the NENA region and presented the conceptual framework, the platform structure, and its related activities and expected outputs. This meeting involved a valuable discussion from the experts who indicated the importance of this platform where the platform serves as a hub for information and knowledge that effectively links relevant stakeholders to consolidate the available research results, technologies, and innovations related to the date palm production value chain. The discussion also involved a few examples of FAO experiences in implementing and managing knowledge and information platforms such as TAP and TECA platforms where small-scale producers can get great benefits from the available information on promising technologies and technical innovations.
