FAO & AARINENA organized a series of capacity-building activities related to the research, technology and innovation date palm platform in the next few months. This meeting focused on the development of innovative platforms, conceptual framework, and the approach of innovation platforms that demonstrate a model of collaboration among relevant stakeholders and partners on issues, research, development, innovations, regulations, and funding. The meeting discussed how innovation platforms play a role in generating knowledge, technology transfer, and capacity enhancement with better integration among stakeholders, enhancing learning processes with multiple benefits, creating business opportunities by deploying new technologies, markets, learning and networking, and leveraging change in resource mobilization. FAO shared their experiences in implementing and managing knowledge and information platforms such as TAP and TECA platforms where small-scale producers can get great benefits from the available information on promising technologies and technical innovations. Furthermore, the meeting discussed the state-of-the-art for the development of the date palm platform and the pilot operation of the whole system in the real world. It included the designation of innovation platforms to facilitate a full-cycle model from idea to innovation and vice versa.
