AARINENA participated in the National Workshop on the “Cross-Sectoral WEFE Nexus Policy Roadmap,” held on 26 July 2026 in Amman, Jordan, and organized by the National Agricultural Research Center (NARC).
The workshop was convened within the framework of the FrontAg Nexus Project, which focuses on climate-smart and water-saving frontier agriculture through an integrated Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus approach in Mediterranean regions. The project is funded by the European Union under the PRIMA Programme.
Inaugurated by Dr. Zakaria Musallam, Director General of NARC, the workshop brought together policymakers, researchers, experts, and representatives of relevant institutions to discuss the mainstreaming of the WEFE Nexus approach and the application of innovative technological solutions to address interconnected challenges related to water, energy, food production, and ecosystems.
Discussions focused on advancing a cross-sectoral policy roadmap and strengthening cooperation among different sectors to support climate-smart agriculture, improve water and resource efficiency, and enhance the sustainability and resilience of agricultural systems.
AARINENA’s participation reflects its commitment to promoting integrated approaches to water and natural resource management, climate-smart agriculture, research and innovation, and regional collaboration. By engaging in initiatives that connect science, policy, and practice, AARINENA continues to support the development and exchange of innovative solutions for more sustainable and resilient agrifood systems across the NENA region.
