Oman hosted the Executive Committee meeting of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Research and Development in the Near East and North Africa (AARINENA), chaired by Dr. Hamdan bin Salem Al Wahaibi, the Director General of Agriculture and Livestock Research and the President of AARINENA.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Rida Shibli, the Executive Secretary of the association, as well as representatives from regional and international research centers and organizations. Discussions included the achievements of the association in 2023, financial reports, and the action plan for 2024.
Dr. Ahmed Al Bakri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries Wealth & Water Resources, hosted the committee members and discussed with them ways to collaborate between their respective organizations and the ministry. They also explored the possibility of expanding AARINENA’s activities to include universities across the region, aiming to enhance research values among students and young professionals.
Additionally, participants visited the Directorate General of Agriculture and Livestock Research to observe ongoing research projects and laboratory facilities. This visit contributed to enhancing cooperation between regional and international agricultural research institutions and centers, facilitating the exchange of research and knowledge through various specialized networks in different agricultural fields.
